A Quilting Journey

Welcome

Thanks for stopping by my online journal.  From the time I was eight years old I’ve been a garment seamstress. My mom, grandmother, and aunts had a hand in teaching me.  I attended a Catholic High School, Fridays were the only day we didn’t have to wear our uniform — believe me there weren’t many Fridays that I didn’t wear a new outfit that I had made!

I was shopping at a JoAnn Fabric Store looking for supplies to alter a prom dress for the daughter of a good friend and stumbled upon a machine embroidery demo. OMG I was hooked and as they say the rest is history.

I opened Embroidered Treasures an Etsy shop selling handmade and personalized baby bibs, burps, and bodysuits. As my business grew I needed to buy an additional embroidery machine, we purchased a Babylock Ellisimo from a local quilt shop.  The shop offered a free beginning quilters class with the purchase of the machine. I have always admired quilts but never thought I’d ever want to make one myself.  I had visions of my grandmother and aunts getting together to hand quilt and thought how could that possibly be fun?!!

The quilting classes completely changed my opinion.  I love the idea that you can cut up fabric — stitch it back together to create art–AMAZING.

I started my first quilt in 2010– I combined machine embroidery with patchwork — never finished it– still have it and happy to share it with you.  Lots of mistakes but we all had to start somewhere ?
