My Sewful Retirement

A Quilting Journey

Friday Finishes

Happy Friday!

We had a few scary moments earlier this afternoon when a tornado touchdown near our city here in Florida.  Thankfully no damage!

I spent most of the week relaxing and making travel plans.  After reading Wendy’s post DrEAMi ( Drop Everything and Make It) I realized I needed a tote bag for our road trip next week.

I made two test bags, one with batting and one with heavy interfacing.  I added pockets to each bag and made a matching phone cover for the one made with batting.  I’ll need to purchase buttons this weekend to finish them.  So far I prefer the one with batting it stands on its own and seems to be quite sturdy.

I didn’t use a pattern or a tutorial for either – What’s your favorite tote bag pattern or tutorial?

Until next time – Happy Sewing!

  1. I love your bags! I do have to admit that one of my favorite bags I’ve made was the Jolly Braid Tote Bag, which I made as part of a Fat Quarter Shop QAL. Glad I could lend you a little inspiration, Karla!

  4. Hi Karla! Maybe you should write up a little tutorial for those of us who are bag challenged. And that photo with the pool behind it!!!! Color me slightly jealous. Both bags look fabulous but I love the pool shoot one best. Those fabrics!! LOVE. Happy Happy Saturday to you! ~smile~ Roseanne

  5. Karla, you bags are fab! I especially like the blue floral print. I agree with Roseanne, you should write up a tutorial for your bag design. I could never make mine without one.
I’m glad the tornado spared you, FL needs a break from the storms.
