WIP – Wednesday
Happy Wednesday!
Yesterday I was pulling strips from my scrap container to make string blocks for the Hurricane Michael String Quilt Drive hosted by That Fabric Feeling, and found a bundle of red and green Riley Blake Fat Quarters inside — what a joy 🙂
While making the string blocks I was dreaming of what to make with my new found goodies. After debating with myself I chose a modern cross quilt block. Although the prints in the fabric aren’t “Christmas” the colors most definitely are, so the Greek cross quilt block seemed appropriate.
I love big and easy quilt blocks – this block is 15 x 15 inches. No pattern I sketched the block out myself.
The bundle included 12 fat quarters which will make a decent lap throw.
My layout twelve blocks later :

I took the scraps and made strip sets for my second project in Roseanne & Sue’s from Home Sewn By Us no stress quilt along the Triangle Quilt.

Modern Cross Scraps
This was my first attempt at working with equilateral triangles. I’m hoping to make a wall hanging with one star block.

Until next time – Happy Sewing!
PS — I made 10 string blocks for the Hurricane Michael String Quilt Drive and got them in the mail yesterday! Please visit the link here if you would like to help out!
Gorgeous fabric makes for a gorgeous quilt!

Hi Karla! Wow – you weren’t kidding when you said you were trying the triangles. That layout looks so great! I love the colors of course – cool fabrics. That wall hanging is going to be neat-o. As is your Christmas quilt. So festive!! Happy Thursday! ~smile~ Roseanne

Hi Karla! I love the fun patterns of your Christmas colors fabrics. It’s funny, I just made a Greek cross block last night for a quilt I’m working on for my mother that combines different block types.
I’m so impressed with your triangles!
Thank you for sharing the link for the Hurricane Michael block drive. You are a special person to make so many to contribute 😊
