Supersized Maple Leaf Quilt

I wanted/needed a throw for my living room couch. I had two requirements

• (1) I can only use the fabric I have on hand and
• (2) it had to be quick.

Since I’d had good luck with my maple leaf quilty rug I would stick with that quilt block. Nicole at Modern Handcraft has a great tutorial for a modern maple leaf quilt. Her version is scrappy . I only had 2 fabrics available for the project so I came up with the great idea of doing one large block!! I could not find a pattern so I did a little math and came up with this!

Maple Leaf Throw

The finished size is 50 x 50.  The maple leaf block is 36 inches square  with two borders. I had it pieced and basted in under 90 minutes – probably a long time for most but quickly for me.
