My Sewful Retirement

A Quilting Journey

Weekend Quilting

Happy Sunday!

I spent most of the weekend finishing small projects and working on a few WIP.

I was able to finish the daffodil topper I wrote about here. I decided to use it as a cover for one of my sewing machines.  I love it 🙂

Finishing the the small curvy log cabin table topper I made to test using the 8 inch curvy log cabin trim tool was another small accomplishment. I used a leaf shaped feather embroidery design to quilt the center. After creating 4 blocks and rotating the larger logs to the center creates a “circle” . I added a two inch border so the topper measures 19 x 19.

I started making my Ohio Star Flag table runner a couple years ago. Happy to have another UFO finished. Finished size is 16.5 x 54.  I’m gifting this to my DIL to use as part of her patriotic holiday decor!

I finished piecing my batik hourglass quilt today. I first wrote about it here. I love love the colors! Now I have an excuse to shop for fabric — I need backing fabric!

When I have spare time I’ve been working on this 4 star table runner.  I’m using strip piecing technique with charm squares. Not sure if I like it or not but plan to finish it.

Until next time – happy quilting!

A lot of lovely progress. I do like the patriotic table runner. I like thinking about what it looks like as a quilt, too, with rows coming together. =)

  3. Great idea for the sewing machine cover! I think your Ohio Star table runner is, well…a star! Maybe it’s because I live in Ohio….

  4. Hi Karla,
Holy moly – you had a super duper productive weekend! I love, love, LOVE the sewing machine cover idea!!! I was just saying yesterday that one of our machines need a cover – desperately, I think. I absolutely see the circle in the log cabins – very cool, and I adore the DIL’s table runner. If she doesn’t like it, ship it my way! LOL! Yes, shopping IS required – you need backing to finish that project, right?! ~smile~ Roseanne

    • Rainy days make for wonderful sewing! Seeing what you and other bloggers are creating motivates me to hurry up and finish the old so I can start on new projects. My LQS has a great selection of fabrics at a reasonable price — I plan to visit there weekly 🙂
